The mooring post is a facility installed on the upper structure of the dock for mooring ships. The following is a detailed introduction to the mooring post:
1. Main function
The mooring post provides a stable berthing point for ships. By connecting to the mooring post, ships can be safely docked at the dock, which is convenient for loading and unloading of cargo and boarding and disembarking of passengers. In addition, mooring posts are also widely used in protective projects. At the edge of the water, the setting of mooring posts can prevent water from eroding the shore soil or rocks and protect the shore structure from erosion. In bridge construction, mooring posts also play an important role. Construction ships can be stably docked near the pier by connecting to the mooring post, thereby improving construction efficiency.
2. Structure and composition
The mooring post is generally made of metal materials and is named because of its columnar shape. It is mainly composed of a shell, an anchor rod, a nut, a washer, an anchor plate and a column core filler. The overall structure requires to be simple, firm and easy to use.
3. Classification and specifications
Bollards can be divided into the following categories according to their uses:
Ordinary bollards: generally located at the front of the dock, with the center of the bollard about 0.50.8 meters away from the front edge of the dock. If the position is too close, it is easy to be damaged by the approaching ship, and it is unsafe for cable operation; if it is too far back, it will hinder the operation of loading and unloading machinery and damage the cable. For outfitting and ship repair docks, since there are facilities such as power boxes at the front, the bollard is required to be slightly farther from the front edge, about 0.81.0 meters.
Storm bollards: generally located behind the dock for ships to moor during storms. However, some ports do not have storm bollards because they are rarely hit by typhoons, or ships do not take shelter in the port during strong winds; in order not to hinder the operation of loading and unloading transportation machinery, some ports do not set up storm bollards behind the dock, but increase the size of ordinary bollards so that they can be used even in strong winds.
Trial bollard: At the outfitting dock and the ship repair dock, since there are power boxes, electric welders and other facilities at the front edge of the dock, the trial bollard is required to be slightly farther from the front edge line, generally 0.8~1.0 meters.
In addition, the materials of the bollard are divided into cast iron (HT200) and cast steel (ZG230-450), and the specifications range from 50KN to 2000KN.
4. Layout and selection
The layout and selection of the bollard need to be designed and selected according to the berth capacity and the dock structure type to meet the safety, reliability and convenience of operations such as ship departure, mooring, shifting and turning. If the ships docked at the dock are large and small, the bollards are mostly arranged continuously at equal intervals. For general medium and small docks, each berth should have 45 bollards; for large docks, each berth should have 56 bollards.
In general, mooring bollards are an indispensable part of port and dock construction. Their design, selection, layout and use need to strictly follow relevant specifications and standards to ensure the safety and reliability of ship berthing.
